Right now, America is concerned about the economy for obvious reasons and of course, elections. Sometimes it feels like the American sense of individualism that many foreigners admire can become a threat for the lives and well being of the future generations, which reflects on the environment and how people deal with the idea of global warming (some still see it as a myth).

All in all, now I am concerned about the area where I go to school to: Newark, NJ. The Passaic River is a body of water that extends beyond that but I am specifically concerned about the Newark area. Why? It is a post-industrialized city that is passing through a period of transformation in many ways but the legacy of corruption is still fresh in the memory of historians and its population.

I brought up the issue of corruption because Boyden, the first factory in Newark was born in 1815, in times where environmental responsibility was a choice. However, I will do my best to find out if corruption on one hand, and factory waste on the other were responsible for the contamination of the Passaic. Also, I will find out if the individuals or coorporations responsible for that had been held accountable for their actions.

If you have any thought or relevant information that you want to share with me, please do it.
